Heidelberg International School
The Heidelberg International School, (H.I.S), is an independent day school, serving the Heidelberg and Rhein-Neckar region. The school opened in 2000 as the International School of Karlsruhe in Karlsruhe. During the summer 2002 the ISK moved to Heidelberg and became the Heidelberg International School. Heidelberg International School offers Early Years 1 and 2 (4 and 5 year olds), and Primary Years, grades 1 to 6 for the school year 2003/2004. Further grades will be added annually. The ultimate goal is to offer an educational programme for students from Early Years through grade 12 by 2011. Heidelberg International School aims to serve students from the international and local German communities. The students learn respect for their own and other cultures, good work habits, openness and tolerance. The school prepares them for a productive and responsible adult life or the next stage of their education. It strives to meet all its aims through a rich educational programme taught mainly in English and with German and a wide range of extra-curricular activities. Heidelberg International School is planning to implement the three programmes of the International Baccalaureate Organization which all encourage the intellectual, emotional and spiritual intelligence of students. Through positive reinforcement, motivation and individual attention, students are encouraged in their learning development to reach their maximum potential. All three programmes support the development of learning ability, as well as organisation skills and collaborative learning. They include language arts, mathematics, science and technology, humanities, social studies, personal, social and physical education, computer skills, music, library skills, and the creative arts. New students can be admitted throughout the school year. International Schools |
